The science behind the handlebar subtank is simple. By adding more air volume with our TGT system, you are able to achieve a plusher ride. Our adjustable clicker valve controls the air flow form the fork into the handlebar. On the small bumps your fork will respond as it has a low oil level. This results in a plusher ride with improved turning ability and greater front wheel traction. However, on big jumps, your fork will react as it has a higher oil level, thus retaining your original bottoming resistance.
Your clicker valve on the handlebar has a red knob and is preset from the factory at about 17 to 20 clicks out from the closed position. To close the valve and double check the factory settings of 17 to 20 clicks out, simply turn the red knob clockwise until it gently bottoms. Then, open the valve by turning the red knob counterclockwise while counting the 17 to 20 clicks. Now, take yur bike to the track or trail and enjoy the improved fork action. If you prefer an even plusher ride, you can open the red knob on the vlave in small increments. If you prefer a firmer ride, you can close the valve in small increments. Most amatuer riders prefer the clicker valve between 17 to 25 clicks out. Advanced and pro riders prefer the clicker valve set between 12 and 18 clicks out.
I has been our experience that adding two more clicks of compression adjustment on your fork legs may imporve your system even more. Additionally, if you want your forks to have even more bottoming resistance than stock, simply add between 15 to 25cc's of fork oil to each fork leg.
Simply hold the button on the pressure relief valve down for about 5 seconds while the front wheel is off the ground. The pressure relief valve is on top of the main valve.
